Steak_and_Vegetable_Stir-fry

A great way to combine meat and veggies in one dish to make a wholesome meal. I'm sure every family will love my Steak and Veggie Stir-fry dish !!!

 

Ingredients :

  • 1 lb of rump or sirloin steak cut into thin strips.
  • 3 tbsp of sesame oil.
  • 1 tbsp of cornstarch.
  • 1/2 tbsp of soy sauce.
  • 1 head of broccoli, separated into florets.
  • 2 carrots cut into thin strips.
  • 4 oz of snow peas.
  • 1/2 cup of beef stock.
  • 250g of baby spinach, stalks removed.
  • Freshly cooked white rice.
  • 1 tbsp of dry sherry
  • 1/2 tbsp of soy sauce.
  • 1/2 tsp of sugar.
  • 2 finely chopped cloves of garlic.
  • 1 tbsp of sesame oil.

 

Directions :

1. For the marinade, in a bowl mix the dry sherry, soy sauce, 1/2 tbsp of cornstarch, sugar, chopped garlic and sesame oil. Then add the beef and mix well. Set aside for about 30 minutes.

2. In a preheated wok, stir-fry the beef ( remove the beef from the marinade sauce before stir-fry) for about 2 minutes.

3. When the beef turns golden brown, remove and set aside.

4. Mix the 1/2 tbsp of cornstarch and soy sauce in a bowl.

5. Add the 2 tbsp of sesame oil in to the wok. Mix in the broccoli, carrots, snow peas and stir-fry for about 2 minutes.

6. Now add the stock and cover the wok. let steam for a minute or two.

7. Mix in the spinach, beef and cornstarch mixture. Let it cook until the juices start to thicken.

8. Serve on a bed of freshly coked white rice.
